Custom Levelling

Custom Leveling

Creating fun things for members to work towards is a tried and tested way to keep people engaging. There are other leveling bots, but Crue lets you customize them making them even more exciting to work towards!

Basic

Create a fun leveling system where each role has a cool image/gif and text associated with it.

  1. Create the base level, ie “novice” in your Discord.
  2. Create a corresponding Role Reward on your Crue dashboard.
  3. Then create the rest of the levels you want, we recommend between 5 and 10.
  4. Create corresponding role rewards on your Crue dashboard, ~doubling the cost for each successive role. Make sure to check “Restrict Roles” and select the previous level as “Required Role” for the next level.

Advanced (skill tree or clan style)

Want to people to join sub-groups and form tighter circles and deeper culture?

Example

  1. Create four roles corresponding to the four tribes titled air, water, earth, and fire.
  2. Depending on how you want people to join a tribe, you can use
    • Crue
      1. On the Crue dashboard, create 4 role rewards corresponding to the roles you just created
      2. For each role reward, set the tokens cost to 50, and “blacklist” the other 3 tribe roles so people can be a part of one tribe.
      3. In a read-only start-here or “choose-my-tribe” channel, use the /show-reward command for each of these rewards to display them for users.
      4. Below the displayed Role Rewards, describe the point of your tribe system and direct people to buy the one they want
    • Choose from many different options using Reaction Roles (ie choose your favorite sports team) you can customize how you want this to happen with https://www.droplet.gg/ bot
    • Through random assignment
      • To configure the roles that can be assigned by Carl-bot, you need to use the web dashboard provided by Carl-bot. You can access the dashboard by visiting the Carl-bot website and logging in with your Discord account.
      • Once you're logged in to the dashboard, navigate to the "Roles" section or a similar settings page.
      • In the role configuration settings, you can select or deselect the roles that you want Carl-bot to be able to assign randomly. Save the changes after making your selections.
      • After configuring the roles, you can use the !randomrole command as mentioned earlier, and Carl-bot will only assign roles that have been enabled in the dashboard.
  3. For each of the tribes, create roles tilted something simple like Water 1 or something more fun like Water Novice. Create higher levels up to Water 5 or, e.g., Aquatic Master.
  4. When creating these roles, make sure to
    1. set the base role for that tribe as a required role. This way, Water Tribe members can only level up in the Water Tribe roles.
    2. Also, make sure to set the previous level as a requirement for the next level. Meaning, for example, to be able to purchase Fire III you must have purchased Fire II role.
  5. You can make it even more interesting by creating further branches. For example, after earning Water Apprentice, you can create two role rewards, for example, Ice Sage 1, and Steam Sage 1. Where for Ice Sage 1, you blacklist Steam Sage 1, and visa versa for the Steam Sage role reward. Alternatively, if you allow people to have multiple tribes, you could require people to have Water III and Earth III to unlock Ice Sage 1.

You can even make these roles temporary roles (but significantly reduce the token cost) so that people have to stay active to keep their levels!

This will give people fun identities to play with and build a stronger attachment to (and more likely to purchase more products from) your community!
